Hours Time Tracking App Reviews

Almost perfect

The 2.0 update is great, but seems to have introduced some minor issues with the basic features. Occasionally the app hangs and needs to be force closed, and it would be nice if the timeline would scroll to the current time when the app opens. The updated interface is sharp, and only a few tweaks away from perfection. Definitely give this app a try.

Does just what you want it to

Super easy to use. It makes time tracking and reporting amazingly quick and takes no thought. Other time tracking methods Id stop using after awhile but this one Ive stuck with and actually enjoy using. And because Im diligent with using it, I had enough good data to negotiate a higher contract with a client.

Basically perfect for my needs

Not sure what people are complaining about, Hours works fine on my 6 Plus and hasnt crashed once. Beautiful UI with a clean, simple interface to keep track of jobs/projects. The web version is really nice too. I use the notification center widget and and the Apple Watch app to start and stop my timers throughout the day. The only bug Ive seen is that the app sometimes asks me if I want to start a timer when I already have one running and reminds me that I have one running when Ive already turned it off

Simple yet complete!

I had a little trouble figuring out where to perform certain tasks like changing a start or end time, but now that Ive got the hang of it, it is *so* slick!

Near Perfect

Wish I had this when I was in the thick of working as a consultant. Very useful and well thought out software. The Apple Watch portion is equally well contrived for the use model of watch and watching time. Wish it had a reminder to check your project timer at a user defined interval. I want to make sure that I am still working project "X" every 30 min and if not, switch to a different project category. Regardless, clearly built by someone that had a problem to solve for themselves and thank you for sharing with the rest of us! (Update) One note, for the small company of 1-5 with a bunch of clients, the service might be a bit pricy? Consider that web hosting the entire company web site costs the same as one user of the Hours service. Would it make sense to sell an app suite that worked against shared files stored on iCloud for the single user model? Just a thought. Then small companies cloud have their employees use Hours without impacting the Hours server and without some of the consolidated features but allow them to get in the door with exports to Excel and PDF for example. The freelancer model so to speak. $2 for the app on iOS and maybe $9 on Mac (with some expanded features) both talking to iCloud storage in freelancer mode.

Great UI

Love the app!

Excellent!

Really makes you realise just how much time youre using - or not using - in different areas of your life. I mainly use it to track my hours of study, work, and readings between classes so as to try to give them an even spread. And when the timers ticking, it really helps me focus. Fantastic app that just keeps getting better!

At most basic level

Ive been using this app since 8-2015 and have found it to be invaluable, if only for my own personal use. I have been able to document time spent on each project as well as provide detailed information for billing. Its so convenient I cant think of how I would have been able to do it before this app. It takes some time to get into the habit of logging starts and stops but with the time adjustment feature even if I do forget to log something I can go back and add it.

Would be perfect if it stopped crashing

I love all the features; tracking is easy, adding/changing tracked hours is easy, changing time categorization is easy, etc. There are just some days when it crashes over and over when Im trying to categorize time.

convenient and easy

Great tool for time-tracking. Lots of features that make it so easy to use.

Good - buggy site / time lost

Has great function for Apple Watch. Definitely worth giving a try. However I only can give 1/5 stars because often I cant log into the site it just gets hung up at the clock rotating gif. Another user I work with remotely has the exact problem on the site at least. Also, sometimes I notice time being lost. I had 2 hours for one project and later I came back and time was missing. Luckily, I dont leave it as my only time keeper until the bugs are fixed. Update: After contacting hours support, they said my problem is isolated, and no one else experiences the same login troubles. After giving them the info, I havent heard back. I will correct the star rating when the problem is resolved. Also, I would expect a free month since the majority of our free trial has been chaotic.

Was great before v2.0

This app was fantastic prior to version 2.0 - simple, elegant, all the features were well designed and implemented with little clutter. Extra features like integration to other apps were tucked away unless you wanted them. After the update to 2.0 half the reason this app is useful at all is gone - reports have been all but demolished. Linking to an online account solves nothing, and the simple, straightforward reports of hours that made me start using the app initially are gone even there. The reports on their website are so vague and broken apart as to almost useless. If I cant find a workaround to get back to a version with usable reports built in, Ill be deleting this and looking elsewhere.

Screw 1.0 users

I used this app to track my time at my customers and was able to export. I had been using it since May 2015, but when they went to 2.0, I can no longer export. They state that if you contact them, they will help, but Ive sent 5 emails and no response. So, in my case, they LIED! That being said, you may want to consider another app that doesnt change its Cost policy when you get into it and force you to pay for services monthly you may already paid for as a one-time cost. Hope this helps your decision, and maybe their customer service improves. Now I have to start over with a new app. Would I recommend? Not if this is their customer service policy.

Perfect time tracker!

A few days ago I envisioned my perfect time-tracking app. Before setting out to develop it, I did a good search of the App Store too see if anyone had come close. Hours hits it out of the park and adds bells and whistles I didnt even know I needed. I wish it cost money so I didnt have to worry about it suddenly shutting down or getting ads!

Incredible app for contract work

I have been using this app for 6-7 months. I am a contractor with various clients and I dont know how I would deal with billing without it. Easy to organize multiple clients. Easy to start/stop timer during interruptions or project changes. Im totally in love. Get it!

Fix fail

What happened here? Ive been using hours for about 5 months now and unfortunately made a hasty and uninformed decision and updated to this last release over the weekend. On Monday morning, I opened Hours to update timecards project logs. So then on to Reporting, then selecting the previous week in question, I wanted to find out how much time I spent each day that week on a specific project, and... nothing. Now, the app only displays total hours for all projects combined. Strangely, with some weeks, when I select a particular project, it shows a different project even though I didnt log hours on that particular one that week. Bugtastic indeed! I guess I need to log some admin hours and find another app. Or did the UX change somehow with the new UI look? Clean yes but you cleaned out an important feature. Be careful when squishing bugs. Not all bugs are bad. :b

Great time tracker

Ive been using this app to track my hours in my law firm. So far, it seems to do a good job handling the multiple projects. Update: after a couple months using this app in my law firm, this app has been beautiful.

Great Except For The Many Bugs

v1 was dos exactly what I needed; then v2 came along, and it seems rushed out with many many bugs. Ive severely lost confidence in the time keeping. Ive had records disappear, and editing records is cumbersome and sometimes auto-merges, overwrites, or deletes records that I needed. All the features in the world mean nothing when I am uncertain if my next action will destroy something about todays time data. The upshot is that management seem to realize they made a huge mess of the release, and are now trying to fix it. The bad news is that that doesnt help me right now.

BRINGO!

I use this ab to track my time with science and new discoveries. Check it out!

Reporting?

I paid an asking price for this app when it was pretty young, and now one of the nice features I wanted and paid for has been dropped behind a paywall? I went back into business for myself thinking Id be using hours for time tracking. Guess its just become another app that used to be useful.
